How does the translation extension to magento work?
The extension helps in translanting some parts of the store in individual languages. All you have to do is install the extension in your store, and from now you'll be able to add a translation to the store directly from your control panel. The extension supports multiple languages, if ypur shop is running as a multistore and supports multiple domains inn different languages is not a problem, just select the appropriate language. And the extension will automatically create a translation file for the new language version. Forget about connecting to FTB and searching the appropriate translation or the more „asking out” your implementation company to add another translation. From now you can do it yourself.
WHY SHOULD YOU USE THE TRANSLATION EXTENSION AND NOT LINEAR TRANSLATION?
Translation by using a translation file is much cleaner and more correct solution. The search for translations in the database could be time consuming and is recommended as a final solution. Having one translation file, which can easily change the individual elements is convenient.
IN WHICH SITUATION THE TRANSLATION FILE WOULDN'T HELP?
There are two situations in which a translation file can not help- someone translated the expression data by using linear translating, the programmer implementing the shop was not familiar with good programming practices and didn't use the Magento translation function for programming.
HOW TO PREPARE YOUR OWN MAGENTO TRANLATIONS BY EXTENSION?
After installing the module, go to the bookmark System -> Configuration. On the left side you will find sections Global4net with bookmark translation. Operation of the extension is very simple - you just paste the phase you want to translate the following pattern:
"text to translate", "text translated"
Remember, that in Magento, some phrases as the amount of paths to the files are in the form of variables, then instead used stamp % s , so for example matching the phrase "5 item (s) has been added to cart" translation should look like this:
"% s item (s) has been added to cart", "% s product (s) have been added to the basket"
Also, quotation mark should be preceded by an additional quotation marks:
"This is" "special" "expression", "This is the" "special" "expression."
It also happens, that the encoder used the special styles to convert letters, from small to large. You can preview the exact appearance of the phrase by pressing the Google Chrome F12 button
